London, Feb. 8.

Almost immediate resumption of work on the giant Cunardór (No. 534) is expected, an agreement having been reached between tho White Star Line and the Cunard Line.

The merger between the companies, which is applic- able only to the North Atlantic branchés of the activities of the two companies, is contingent upon Parliament's endorse- ment of the Government's decision to provide financial facilities.

An announcement was made in the House of Commons this evening by Mr. L. Hore-Belisha, who stated that the agreement to merge the Cunard and White Star companies had been reached,
