A great and moving dramatic story is told in "I Was A Spy", which wit be shown at the King's Theatrò on Wednesday. It recapitulates the dar ing deeds of Martha McKenno, who was a Belgian nurse in a German hospital during the War. Gaumont- British adapted the film from the wo man spy's own reminiscences, and Victor Saville has directed a British picture that has been acclaimed as a triumph of realiam. It is a war-time story, Intensely dramatic, suspenseful and thrilling. One of the chief fea- tures the production is the recon- structed market place of Roulers on aseni sufficiently large to accom- modate almost a battalion of infantry, together with the units which go to forn a fighting regiment, and the isini; stalls, etc.. which are part of the every-day busy life in the centre of a little country town. The brilliant cast is led by Madaisin Carroll, the most capable and popular British Bereen actress of to-day; Herbert Marshall, a strong favourito; Conrad Veldt, the Continental actor famous in two con- tinents: Gerald du Maurier, one of our greatest stage artists; and Ed- mund Gween, a screen favourite whose character studies are always excellent
