DRAMATIC TRIAL SCENE RECALLED
Berlin, Dec. 21.
Herr Hitler and General Goering, the Prussian State Premier, were to-day informed of the verdict of the Leipzig Supreme Court in the Reichstag fire trial, which is to be publicly announced on Saturday.
It is learned from a usually trustworthy source that the verdict will condemn Van der Lubbe to death and acquit the three Bulgarians on the grounds of lack of evidence,
Herr Ernst Torgler, the German Com- munist, whose demeanour during the trial has caused favourable comment both inside and out of Germany, will also be acquitted on the charge of incondiarism, but the Court will probably order him to be held for a new trial, with other Communists, on a charge of high
treason.
A sensational incident during the evidence of General Goering is furnishing a guarantee of safety for the Bulgarian accused.
