MR. THOMAS AND A CANCELLED
INVITATION
An incident which officials of the Railwaymon's Union describe as un "exceedingly unfortunató blun- der" has occurred in connection with a concert organised by the South London branch of the union for the benoit of the Railwaymon's Orphan Fund.
The local secretary, Mr. Sarrlag. ton, explains that he had prepared! a list of possible guests, amongst whom was included the former general Secretary of the union, Mr. J. 11. Thomas. M.P., but when the lat was submitted to the branch meeting the name of the Dominion. Secretary was howled down.
Mr. Sarrington, however, omit
·ted, to cross out the name 'and' the Invitation Was in- advertently sent. Mr. Thomas ro- plied accepting the invitation, but the South London Committee on receiving the leftor unanimously declared that. unpleasant na it might be to cancel the invitation which had been sent and accepted. Mr. Thomas must be told that his presence at the concert was not desired.
