"According to Messrs. Swan Culbert- son and Frits, the New York market was steady yesterday. Business dono 070,000 shares. The Wall Street Journal reports: The market was most dull and fluctuated within a narrow rango but the undertone, however, was firm. Wall Street was unable to explain the confusing be- haviour of the dollar which traders Ignored. The dollar, which opened strong, dipped, soared and dipped. Business reports were favourable in cluding the report of the Steel In- stitute which reported steel production at 28.3% of capacity. U.S. Bands were irregular. The International Statistical Bureau estimated the 1930 cotton crop at 18,222,000 bales against 10,002,000 bales for last year,
