methods more radical than have yet been adopted.
| WHAT WILL
THEY DO7
This struggle between man and | natural forces has attained homeric proportions, and it is whispered in the very near future the P.W.D. will be striking out on an altogether new lino. Beyond, this baro hint. we can no more anticipate it than the child looking In ́open-eyed wonderment at all these things, is futilely asking the question: "Will they do this, papa, or will they do that?"
This much at all events is clear: that the new vehicular pler, how- over much it has served a publle need, has become a costly con structional experiment, if in the end it will not prove to be a costly failure also.
Far be it for us to doubt the wis- dom or ingenulty of the engineers that be, but it appears to us with only a limited knowledge of these tochnical matters, that much ex- penne could have been avoided in the first instance had expert know ledge been employed..
As it is, the position could well closely approach the classical case of Humpty-Dumpty: it has had a great fall, and thirec-score engineers and threescore more may not re- make the pier as it could have been before.
THE APOSTLESHIP OF PRAYER.
SİLVER JUBILEE OF ROSARY CHURCH CENTRE
In commemoration of the Silver) Jubileo of the establishment of the) Apostleship of Prayer with the centre in the Rosary Church, mem- bera of this prayer circle and others of the Catholle congrega- tion of the Colony attended special services held yesterday at the Church.
A series of Masses were said in the morning, and during the day tho Most Blessed Sacrament was exposed for public adoration.
In the evening, the Litany of the Sacred Heart was chanted, this be- ing followed by д Procession around the compound. The day's celebrations wound up with To Deum and Benediction.
Hending the day's, devotional exercises was Fr. Spadá, the aged Pastor of the Church, who has been associated with the Institu- tion from the beginning.
