A claim that he had discovered a method of harnessing cosmic energy which would drive the ma-: chinery of the world at a small costi was made here to-day by Nikola Tesla, the well-known pioneer in wireless and cosmic ray research and Inventor of the Tesla coll.
The aged Inventor calmly assured visitors to his New York hotel that he was about to revolutionise the economic system.
"There will be no more need of coal, oil, gas or any other fuel," he announced. "This principle, which tapa a source of power, everywhere present in unlimited quantities, may be Iranamitied by cable or wireless to any part of the world. The time! is not far distant when it will be rendy for practical commercial de- velopment.
"While the pawer in its present forma calls for transmission through central plants requiring vast machinery, I hope to be able to work out a plan for Its use by Individuals."
Until Mr. Tesla reveals more dè- tails of his discovery other men of science are reserving judgment. It is pointed out, however, that his Jong record of useful research en- titled his claim to respectful atten- tion. The Edison Medal is among the scientific awards made to Mr. Tesla.

Slie and the bishop sent an old pair of gaitors to the League and challenged the workers to make something useful out of the articles,
"We took the gaiters and made a little girl's Jumper with a zip fas toner down the front," she added.
The League had also received a big box of baby clothes. "I am sending you my baby clothes," sald an accompanying lotter. "Having reached the age of 80 I am afraid I shall not need them any longer."
