A somewhat sensational announcement was made during the debate to the effect that Mr. Arthur Henderson is on the verge of resigning the office of President of the Disarmament Conference.
It was at first understood that Mr. Henderson had already decided to take the step, but Sir Stafford Cripps read a message from the Geneva correspondent of the Daily Herald in which Mr. Henderson stated that he had not decided to resign, but felt that unless the pre sent very unsatisfactory situation was changed, he could not continue as President of the Conference.
