On the eve of the opening of the National Athletic Meot, in which over, 2,000 athletes are participating, Nan- king is placarded with posters stress-- ing the importance of physical cul- ture from both the individunt and nutional viewpoints,

The Southerners are expected to distinguish themselves in swimming, baseball and volley-ball.

A big programme of ceremoniale will mark the opening of the Athletic Meeting on the morning of tho "Double Tenth," and will includo specches from a number of high on- cials and cabinet ministers and an air demonstration by a large air squadron. The whole ceremony of the day will be taken in sound films.
