Marion Craw- ford romance, "The White Sister." The combination is a particularly strong one. Under the careful direct- tion of Victor Fleming they do a beau- tiful job of one of the most atirring love stories in literary history.
The story of the aristocratic Italian girl who falls in love with a soldier on the eve of her marriage lo a man of her father's choice gives both Miss Hayes and Gable every appor- tunity for romantic portrayals of the first order. Whether it be in the Bighter scenes of the carnival at the start of the picture or at the dramu- tle moment when the soldier whom the heroine believed to be dead re turns very much alive, the work of the two stars is at all times touching and effective.
"Infernal Machine"
The "Infernal Machine", newest Fox Film production described as a light romantic comedy with a drama- tic touch, will have its first showing at the King's Theatre 'to-day.
Cheater Morris and Genevieve Tolin share the featured honours, while others in the strong supporting cast include Victor Jory Elizabeth Fat- terson, James Bell, Edward Van Stoun, Arthur Hohl, Josephine Whit- tell,. J. Carroll Naish and Mischa Auer.
Arthur Kober adapted the screen play from the popular novel by Garl Sloboda and Marcel Varnel directed.
The story concerns love affair between Miss Tobin and Morris, which starts after a taxicab crash in Paris. Morris lakes, the girl's jewels to anve them from Apaches.
He manages to return the girl's Jewels, stowing away on a ship to achieve this, and she makes her fiance, enacted by Victor Jory, re- ward Morris by paying his passage.
