Isn't is only natural that the qucons should predominate in the National mixed tenm-of-four cham- pionship? In this ovent a team must consist of two mixed pairs. At Asbury Park rocently this event set an attendance record for national team-of-feur championship events.
The kings and, queens of bridge competed for this national cham- pionship title and the following in. teresting and came up during tho contest. The first four tricks wore Won by the declarer with four quéens.
Mr. George Unger, former nn- tional contract team-of-four cham- plon, was sitting in the South and his partner was Mrs. R. B. Fuller, who with her partner, Mrs. Court- land Smith, won the national wom- an's pair title at Asbury Park.
Mr. Unger passed, West pasecd. and Mrs. Fuller in the North bid one spade. East doubled and South bid one no trump. North wont to two no trump-and. South wild three no trump,
The Play
West's opening lead was the jack of hearts and dummy's queen held the trick. Mr. Unger returned the six of diamonds from dummy and played the queen from his own band. West allowed it to hold the trick.
The next play was the deuce of apades, the queen was played from dummy and the third queen had the. trick. This gave Mr. Unger the thought that now his

This gave Mr. Unger a perfect count on the East-hand, which now had left nothing but three cluba and three apades, therefore a small club was played from dummy and won in the declarer's hand with the Acc. East was then thrown in the lead with a club, and cashed the good king of clubs.
East held the ace, jack and nine of spades and dummy held the king, len and eight. All that Mr. Unger needed to make his contract WOH one trick. East played a small space which dummy won with last two spade tricks with the ace and jack, Mr. Unger had made his contract of three no trump. ·
