DAYTIME SILHOUETTE UNCHANGED EXCEPT FOR PLAIN SKIRT

A DIAGONAL LINE ON NEW FALL MODE

By Jean Patou Paris-Youthful, simple and' essentially Parisian clothes that Is what I have endeavoured to achieve in my now collection.

Fashions, during the last few months, have diverged a good deal from Parisian taste. For daytime wear, the attractive woman found herself reduced to altogether too realistic an athlete's suit and as far as evening wear was concern- od, only one of two alternatives confronted her dressing herself up in seraphim's wings or wind- ing herself round in feathers.

My winter collection has been established on a totally diferent made the basis. I have not slightest attempt at decoration but have tried to achieve some sort of architecture.

The daytime silhouette remains unchanged except that skirt fronts are plain, with any fullness or pleats massed at the back. The part a skirt is called upon to play this winter, however, will be mere- ly that of covering the legs with- out disguising them.

evolved concerned, the skirt has

of highly drapery. By

means studied cut the new skirt clings harmoniously

to the figure, out- lining and modeling the thighs, bestowing thus a touch of emo- tional beauty on every attitude.

This new evening line precludes any kind of girdle or belt, at any rate, for evening wear. In cer- thin cases, however, special girdies have been provided to go with the dreas. Nothing is so unaesthetic as the tight line produced by the old-style girdle, sa often visiblo from the front and nearly always
