Paris, Aug 29. Henri Cochet, noted French tennis ace who played a leading part in keeping the Davis Cup in France's possession for six years until this season, an. nounced to-day he planned to turn professional.
The formal announcement of his action will be delayed until next week when he begins training for Franco-American professional tournament opening Sopt. 22.

In this he is expreted to be pit- ted once again against his old ri- val, Bill Tilden, who turned pro- fessional several years ago.
It was Cochet who in 1927 and a season or two afterward ended Tilden's long dominance of interna tional tennis, and Ellsworth Vines, dethroned Cochet American Ree,

In order to foster inter-office bowls at the Public Works Department, a new competition has come into being this year.
In addition to the Inter-De-
partmental knock-out tourna- ment which is already in exist- ance, Mr. F. Sutton has pre- sented a cup to be competed for by the various P.W.D. offices.
It is being run on the league system, the winners of the trophy to be the team finishing at the top of league. In the event of two or more toams finishing with an equal number of points, deciding match or matches shall be played.
