day and colourful Vienna of moro than a century ago is the setting for "Gongrosa Dances," the Ufa operatle satire which is now showing at the Contral Theatre.

The story has to do with the royal Intrigues of the days of Napoleon, then banished to Elba. The rulers of Austria, Russia, France and other countrios naturally are concerned over the fate of Bonaparto and other in person
or through high diplomatie representatives gather in Vienna to deelde the vanquished Napoleon's fate. Austria's Chancellor, Prince Motter- nich, cloverly portrayed by Conrad Voldt, is determined that ho shall re- main in exile and exerts every means to keep Czar Alexander of Russia from the congress called in the Aus trian capital.
Despite the efforts of the enchant- ing Lillian Harvey, as Christel, the glove-shop girl, and Lil Dagover, as the alluring Comtesso Metternich, fails to keep Alexander from the con- ference and the Congress dance, but the infatuation of the Russian om- poror for the delightful shopgirl Anal- ly carries the day for the Chancellor, whose joy, however, is short-lived, as word comes announcing Napoleon's escape.
Lillian Harvey carries the show in with the able magnificent fashion help of Henry Garat, Conrad Veldt, Lil Dagover, Gibb McLaughlin, Reginald Purdel! and hundreds of "extras" picturesquely dressed in the picturo.
"Hell Below"
"Hell Below," the submarine adven- ture film which caused widespread comment during its long run at the Astor Theatre in New York City, comea on Thursday to the Queen's Theatro giving local filmgoers a chance to view what is said to be the most thrilling marine spectacle ever to reach the talkies.
Robert Montgomery heads the cast. of "Hell Below," in what critics con- cede to be the outstanding role of his career. As the young lieutenant who falls hopelessly in love with a woman already married, he is precipitated in- to a stirring series of occurrences in which he disobeys the orders of his submarine commander in an effort to Bave his friend adrift at sea and tar- get for the guns of a squadron of airplanes, is dishonourably dismissed from the service after unwittingly. causing
the entire crew a narrow escape from a horrible death at the bottom of the ocean, and finally vin- dicates himself before both his com- mander and the woman he loves in a heroic gesture in which he forfolts his life..
Walter Huston, who recently con- tributed a memorable portrayal to the Aereon as the President in "Gabriel Over the White House," has another stirring role as the submarine com- mander, and the ace cast also includes auch notable film names as Madge Evans, Jimmy Durante, Eugene
Palletto and Robert Young,
One camera was operated with the ald of a periscope so that scenes above the water were actually recorded in- side one of the submarines. Interior sequences-of-the-production were made at the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios, where a complete replica of the submarine which had served as a basis of operations in Honolulu was reconstructed.
"Handle With Care"
James Duna and Boots Mallory play the leading romantic roles in "Handle With Care," In which El Brendel is also featured. David Butler, famed for such sucċesses as "Sunny Side Up," "Delicious" and "Down To Earth," wrote the story and directed the picture, which will be screened at the Oriental Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday.
