No trump is the most dificult con- tract to make, therefore it should be your strongest original one bid. The Play
If a spade is opened by East. the hand is a lay down., However, it requires an interesting squeezo play with the opening of the jack of clubs.
The trick is won in dummy with the ace and declarer runs of four heart tricks, discarding. the six of West spades on the fourth heart. lets go a club and East a spade. Declarer now starts the diamond suit, running four diamonds, win- ning the fourth diamond in dummy. East discards two spades and West lets go two clubs.
The fifth diamond is led from dummy and West is helpless. He holds king and nine of spades [and the queen-and-ten-of clubs. If
