• ́AN ALARMING EXPLOSION OCCURRED IN THE FAMOUS CHURCH OF ST. PETER-YESTER- DAY AFTERNOON, AS THE RESULT OF WHICH FOUR WORSHIPPERS WERE INJURED AND MINOR DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE HISTORIC TWO-WAY CROSSING OF

BUILDING.

Immediately after the outrage, it was decided to

order the temporary closing of the church, while the

damage, belived to be minor, is examined by exports.

The explosion occurred in the portico of the church and came from a suitcase which had been deposited with an attendant by a visitor who ostensibly had come to St. Peter's to worship.

The police, with the assistance of the attendant who was given the suitcase, scrutinised the worshipper's as they emerged without detecting the culprit.

The object of the outrage is mystifying. St. Peter's is the metropolitan cathedral of Rome and the largest church in the world. It was rebuilt in the 16th century from the designs of Bramante, Michael Angelo and Bernini-Router.
