Millions of
Gallons maturing-
Older and better than ever
Never was your, White Horse as good or as old as it is to-day. Years ago, exceptionally heavy stocks of the finest whiskies were laid down to anticipate sales which the quality would justify. These stocks are now fully matured. The result is that WHITE HORSE is now older and better than ever before, excellent as it was in 1932 and preceding years.
This advance in quality and age will be maintained.. White Horse is now the equivalent of a fine liqueur.

FARMERS HIT BY hope is being done, but to relieve
LOW PRICES
LAND MORTGAGES TOO ONEROUS
SHORT TERM
CREDITS
Now that the Minister of Agriculture has, on behalf of the British Government, publicly stat ed that it is their Intention to revive this important industry in the Interests of the whole country, the question of financing farmers to take advantage of such market ing schemes as may be put fute operation becomes of vital im- portanco.
It is, of course, unfortunate that the townsman has but litle idea of the terrible financial condition of agriculture, nor yat deca heap preciate the special inculties of financing the production of farm produce.
Whereas a factory can be closed down on any given date and re opened as soon as fresh oll has been put into the bearings, the closing down of a farm will take a year and it may take several years to reopen and got it into pro-
ductive capacity' agala.
Hardly anything on a form can be sold with less than one year's preparation, nor can it be sold be fore it is roady for the market, and then by reason of its perish- ability It has to be disposed of al- most immediately.
FALL IN PRICES.
What has hit the agricultural industry more than anything else is the long continued fall in the price of commodities since 1925. The long-term debts and obliga- tions then incurred have become an impossible burden on the pro- ducer.
Mortgages on land bought at Inflated prices, by reason of the Corn Production Act, even though the interest and sinking Tund havo been fixed at 5% per cent.. are proving far too onerous.
the Industry of some part of its debt in the past.
TOWNSMAN'S ADVANTAGE.
For eight or nine years the townsman has been getting home produce, and for that matter a great deal of foreign produce, at | less than cost, and all economists agres that this is certainly not wlso. Again, it is the townsman, with no doubt the best intentions in the world, who has statutorily fixed on the farmer the major portion of his burdens which pro vent him from reducing, his costs: wagon, tithe, death duties on land, taxes on his fuel, for cultivation, and inst, but not least, a very Health, contribution from the large portion of the National healthier country villages is taken to support the less healthy Indus-
trial areas,
needed to finance each new branch Although fresh money is badly of the industry as it is dealt with by the various schemes, it cannot be too strongly, emphasised that unless such measures are taken as will make the home product re munerative, such finance is useless. Farmers, though very distrustful of politicians, can do no more than hope that this result may be at tained,
If such a thing should come to pass, and it seems to many too good to be true, there would be an outlet for financiers to the extent of at least £100,000,000.-
To take the pig industry alone ne an outlet for the Investor, to produce only half this imported pigment £8,000,000 would be re- quired for housing the additional sows and their progenies,
Further working capital for the purchase of stock would demand another £3,000,000, Stock breed- ing and feeding, dairying, arabic, horticulture could poultry, and
easily absorb the balance.
One of the main causes of the American industrial depression has been the enormous drop in the farmers' purchasing power, esti-- mated in 1932 to be about five billion dollars.
FARM RELIEF BILL Farmers note with pleasure that the Central Chamber for Agri- culture and the N.F.U. have taken Whatever be the rights and up the question of finance. It is wronga of Tithe, which was desperately urgent, and some sort stabilised in 1925, it takes, to-day, of ineasure analagous to the double the produce to satisfy £100, American Farm. Relief Bill is of tithe or chargos.
