The Berlin public is exceedingly puzzled by the ap. pearance of an official story, alleging the mysterious visitation of a number of foreign aeroplanes, which arrived over Berlin, according to the tale, and flew over the Wilhelmstrasse.
Details of this astonishing story are provided both by the police and the Air Ministry."
The official reports state that the planes were foreign machines, but that it was impossible to identify their country of origin.
It is alleged that they dropped pamphlets contain- ing insulting remarks about the Government.
NO CONFIRMATION
Nevertheless, enquiries at the Tempelhof Acró- drome have elicited the fact that the officials and ground-staff there have no knowledge whatsoever of foreign machines having appeared anywhere near Berlin.
Berlin's newspapers, although they have been un- able to confirm the official report from any other source, have been ordered to publish a front page statement about aeroplanes which nobody has apparently seen and about pamphlets which nobody has apparently picked
