THE WORLD OF WOMEN
FOR THE SUPPER PARTY
Grey Organza in Lovely Moulded Lines Makes This Stylish Triple-Service Costume
By Joan Savoy
1
So-called "garden party clothes" always intrigue women, even though so fow ever get to garden parties.
Supper dresses are much more in tune with American life As it is lived to-day. And approximately the same type of pret- ty, feminine thing is suitable both for Sunday suppers and gar den parties. Top the dress with a big hat, and there you are! If you feel it in your bones that you are going to be asked out a lot, or will have to entertain a lot, or perhaps go to several .stylish weddings, then you'll need type of costume..
One particularly good supper dress is made of grey organza, with lovely moulded lines, over a grey satin slip. It has long. fight organza alceves, making it quite the right thing for dinner parties, too.
The smart new feature is the ficha made with ruffly edger that give the desired wide-shouldered effect, then taper to a point at high waistline and the ends cross to girdle the dress and fasten in the back,
Where the fichu meets at the V neck, there is a handsome red and rhinestone pin, an effective touch of colour against the moonglow organza.

YOUR CHILDREN
By Olive Roberts. Barton
A mother has asked me about stammering. She is greatly` dis- tressed-about her three-year-old boy who looks up at her so piti- fully after an attempt at words, and saya, "Mother, I can't talk.""
She despairs of curing him be- cause it runs in the family, and nsks me if I enn give her any ad- vice that will help ever so little. What can I say, what can I do, except give the general informa- tion about plenty of rest, plenty of fresh air, not too much excitement, and a great deal of happiness? Of course, ahe has heard all this be fore. And, she has heard, too, that many children during their adventurous fourth year (after three) begin to stammer because 1 their excited thoughts get abend of their tongues. Naturally they get over it in time unless the habit is deepened and set by perpetual re- ference to it in the family.

If I had a child whom I felt was In for a life of inhibited speech, I should write to the medical cen- tre of the nearest large city, and get first-hand advice about whom to consult. Such a course might result in treatment at a hospital, or merely in a course of procedure at home to be carried out patient-
ly.
Spare Child Embarrassment
But I first would be sure that it was right advice and not too ex- perimental, and that it was in the hands of a doctor who really knew all that can be known about this perplexing affliction.
One thing I should do, having this in my family. That is to pro- vent the little soul from seeing how unhappy and worried I was about it. I would campaign among my friends and his play- mates to treat it as a matter of course and not add self-conscious- ness and embarrassment to make him still more unhappy.
I should have him accept it as
a matter of course. As tactfully and-carefully-as I could I would have him speak slowly. Many children outgrow it. They do so more quickly if they are not re- minded of it. And they must not see that their parents arc dis- tressed.
There Are Worse Aflictiona
It is a cross to bear, I know, but after my visit to a large Children's Hospital three days ago, where so many of the little sufferers will nover be out of bed, or will go through life hopelessly crippled, I feel that there are such really heavy crosses for some parents, that the cross of stammering la something to be borne without Inment,
