A BIG SCHEME FOR THE CONVERSION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS SIX PER CENT. LOAN into a twenty-year bond issue at four per cent, interest, was announced by the Hon. Colonial Treasurer in Legislative Council this afternoon.
The existing loan will cease to bear interest as from July 31 and holders will then have the choice of redeeming the bonds in cash or of converting into the long-term issue proposed.
