DINNER HELD
In recognition of the work he has done for the St. John Ambul- ance Brigade, Sir William Shenton was entertained at dinner by the officers and finance committee of the local "Brigade on Saturday night.

Commissioner Morris proposed the toast of the Soverign Patron of the Order, His Majesty the King. Sir William Shenton proposed the toast of the Republic of China."
Commissioner'a Speech. Commissioner Morris, rising to propose the toast of Sir William Shenton, said:
It gives me great pleasure and is at the same time a great honour to propose the toast of the evening, our guest of honour, Sir William Shenton My one regret is that the toast has not been relegated to one of our number more accustomed to after dinner speeches and possessed of the silvery tongue of eloquence. I class myself as a plain blunt man who loves my friends, and that they know fall well.
However I should be lacking in appreciation and gratitude if I did not make an effort howsoever im- perfectly to acknowledge and ap- preciate the many services rendered by our guest.
