COMMITTEE REPORT EXPECTED SOON

Geneva, Jan. 27,

- After 24 hours the meeting of the Committee, of Nine adjourned until this afternoon, having made considerable progress with the earlier paragrapha of the report restating the League case In the light of developments from the beginning of the dispute.

The Committee is still faced with very conflicting amendments and has not yet decided in what form the recommendations con- tained in the Lytton Report will be embedled.

The recommendations, likewise, have not yet been touched upon. but it is clear that they will ultimately figure in the report of the Committee of Nine.

Later.

The Committee of Nine, re- assembled at 6 o'clock this even- ing to continue its discussions.

The meeting in the evening, ex- cept upon two points, completed the draft of the first three parts of the report, which will be read a second time to-morrow.

The preamble is very brief, con- sisting of just one sentence ex- plaining the report. The second part deals with the history of the dispute, both from. ae Geneva and Far East ends, and gives a con- nected account of the origin bas- ed especially on the first eight chapters of the Lytton Report, the resolutions passed by both the Council and the Assembly and the documents issued by the League, ns well as Consular despatches from the Far East.
