He'steered Liberty Bay and Racing Boy to victory, but was beaten for the Australian St. Leger when Polar Star set up a new record for the course in this event.

A valuable nequisition to Army cricket in Hongkong is Lieut. Garthwaite, R.A., who played for the United Services against the II.K.C.C. on Satur- day. He has recently arrived from Scotland, where he play- ed cricket regularly for For- forhire in the season just concluded. He compiled three centuries including a brilliant 108 in the inst and all-im- portant match against Perth shire.
