THE LOCAL NUDISTS.
FOUNDER DENIES STORIES OF PROTEST
"I wish to state quite definitely That no protest has been lodged by the village elders of Shatin district regarding nudist activi ties," said Mr. H. Lanepart, the Founder and president of the local nudist movement, yesterday.
the "The villagers leased us ground, and it is hardly likely that they would afterwards pro- test about us," he continued.
Mr. Lancpart added that the society now consisted of over a hundred registered members. eighty-five per cent of whom were British Europeans. He admitted that the women were not numeri- cally strong, but many of them, all Europeans, had taken part in the mixed nudist outings. So far no Chinese women had participated In the outings, but there several Chinese members. The official party, including himself, left every Sunday by the 1.18 p.m. train from Kowloon Railway

Station, and other members journeyed out to the scene of the Club's activities by motor car and bus. Every Sunday afternoon the members participated in mixed sir baths, sun baths and water baths. Asked if a good percentage of the members attended the outinga, Mr. Lanopart admitted that so far the attendance was not great. "But they will como," he added confi- dently.
"It is absolutely untrue to say that a great crowd of spectators gather around to watch our acti vitles," he said in answer to the next question. "Our land is right out of the way, at least a mile from the nearest village, and the only reason anyone would venture out there would be to act the role of a of 'Peeping Tom'. That sort pronla we can very easily get rid of."
"How is, tho. cult progressing?" Mr. Lanepart was asked.
"Vory well." he replied, "Very woll, Indood. The Hongkong Nudist Cult has now passed the Infant stage. It is now what you would call out of its waddling clothes!"
