NOTES SUPPLIED BY THE THEATRES

Ted Lewis, star of "Is Everybody Happy?" the Warner Bros. and Vita- phone production, playing, shortly at the Queen's Theatre, has had a busy life the past few years. All ever the country, wherever people gather to me a good vaudeville show, Ted Lewis has become a vogue. Ils diance musle is lust bit different- enough to make his style of anter- tainment distinctive and tremendously popular. Going inck a few years, we can see how much the public de- mands of Ted. In 1924 he appeared with his net in "The Passing Show." Ho romained with it until the follow- ing February when he went on a const to const vaudeville tour. In the inte spring and early summer of 1926 be played in the Kit Kat Clob in London, and the London Hippo- drome. Then he returned to Amerlen and joined "Le Maire's Affairs" and played the rennon, opening the fol lowing summer for a short tour of the Pille houses. In the fall af 1027 he opened with "Artists and Models," and late in the season lett it so that he and his wife might take their first honeymoon-a three weeks' trip to Havana and Palm Bench. More vaudoville followed and he went to France and Belgium where he entertained royalty and nobility. Back to America and another long vaudevillo tour until ho went to Hollywood to make his picture debut in "Is Everybody Happy?"

The first appearance together of the screen's first-actor, John Barry- more, and his equally illustrious bro- ther, Lionel in "Arsene Lupin," which la now showing at the Queen's Theatre, is a cause for jubilation 1. those film-goers who have been look- ing for something different and above the average in the way of screen fare. Here We have two of the cinema's most expert proponents of the art of dramatic acting, brilliant characterization And sophisticated

Metro-Gol comedy, and

The acting of both John and Lionel Barrymore, it is hardly necessary to say, is practically flawless, it being well-nigh impossible to think of two ather performers who could handle their respective roles anywhere near as well, Miss Marley is both charm- ing and capable, while the work of John Miljan as prefect of the Parin police and Tully Marshall an one of

Her briliant personality and strikingly beautiful voice can endue even the dullest of parts with something of her own fascination, but when she has a part such as that of Lady Frinton in "Aren't We All?", a distinct Maric triumph may be expected.

"To-morrow And To-morrow.” Ruth Chatterton has BUPAT- stitions. To her the number thirteen has no terrors. Three cigaretten lighted from one match just means you're lucky to have the match. As for black cats, she prefers to call them lucky for no other reason than that she thinks the sharp contract of yellow-green eyes and shiny black fur a striking mark of sleek

animal beauty. "To-morrow and To-morrow" is the third consecutive Chatterton Btarring picture that she has had n black cup in the cast. The Bercen play of Philip Barry's stage hit called for pet dog in one scene, but Miss Chatterton persuaded Director Richard Wallace to substitute a black eat. "To-morrow and To-morrow," an intriguing Cocial drama with Miss Chriiertan and Paul Lukas in the lending roles, is the feature for next Thursday at the King's Theatre. "Ladles Of The Big House." Sylvin Sidney is one girl in 105.
