New York, Oct. 18. The latest compilation of the Literary Digest straw vote on the presidency, and the first to include ali states in the Union, gavo Franklin D. Roosevelt, De- mocratic presidential candidate, a commanding lead over Prealdent Herbert Hoover.
Roosevelt had majorities in 41 states and commanding mujori- ties in 39 of them. Hoover had only seven states in his column.
The count was: Roosevelt, 1,473,440; Ioover, 973,367.
Norman Thomas, the Socialist candidate, polled 127.236 votes.
The percentage for the re- speptive candidates was: Roose. selt, 50.30; Hoover, 37.19; Thomas, 4.86.
