AIR MAIL SPEED-UP

DEVELOPMENT OF SERVICE IN PROVINCES.

Air Mail Bervices are to be speeded up considerably when the new posting times come Into operation. In twelve months nearly 5,000.00 letters have been carried over half a million more than the previous year.

An official of the G.P.O. told a a Press representative that the Indian Air Mall takes by far the largest proportion of the service.

"In a total of 60,000lb. of mali carried in six months." he said, "18,000lb. went to India and an- other 7.000. to the various ports of call-Palestine, Eggypt, Irak, and other places-on the way. In Europe, Germany has the largest postal and letter services from England.

"Provincial towns are rapidly becoming 'Air Mail conscious. There are always heavy mails from Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Cinsgow, Edinburgh, and Leeds. The now familiar blue pillar boxes are installed In! cach of these places, and will eventually be extended to other towns. Aldershot has large Indian mall, which la sent by air, while Hull is a confirmed uner of the Scandinavian for- vices."
