WHAT MOTORISTS PAY IN TAXATION
Many little-known facts of in- terest to the public as well as to motorists, are revented in the 1932 edition of "The Motor Industry of Great Britain," issued by the So- cisty of Motor Manufacturera and Traders of Great Britain.
The number of mator vehicles in use in the United Kingdom as at the September census of 1931 was 1,588,075, of which 1,108,715 re- presented private ears, 367,462 trucks, and 89,182

Tables dealing with the produc- tion of motor vehicles in the United Kingdom show that in 1923 the production of vehicles was 90,000, of which 71,306 were pri- vate cara and 23,604 were com- mercial vehicles.
By the end of 1926 the total had risen to 198,000, and at the end of September, 1983, it had reached 226,307 (cars 168,987, and com- mercial vehicles 67,310). It is not anticipated that the sales of home: produced vehicles in the United Kingdom will show a decrease in 1932 of more than 4 per cent.
