BIG IMPROVEMENTS TO CAPE AIR ROUTE
London, Aug. 26.
In accordance with the recent announcement that the B.E.I.T. trustees would devote the funda at their diaposal to the improve- ment of the air route across north- ern and southern Rhodesia, the project has now been approved. It includes the provision of addi- tional landing grounds, the com- pletion and enlargement of others, and the improvement in meteoro-] logical servicen.
When these improvements, the Immediate cost of which will be about £11,000, have been complet- ed, pilots flying between thei Tanganyika border and Transvaal will have at their disposals a chain of landing spaces at shorter in- tervals than are to be found any-] where in Europe, the average dis- tance between them not exceeding 50 miles.
