The artificial Two-Club Bid is used only as an original bid. It can be made by deater, by second hand after dealer has passed, by third hand after two passes, or by fourth hand after three paasen; it has the same meaning in all
cases.
The Two-Club Bid is made: (a) When the bidder has two lang, strong suits and wants his partner to express a preference. (b) When the bidder 1ກດີ strong No-Trump hand, with one sult either unstopped or insecure- ly stopped; and desires to find out whether his partner has that suit protected, and whether the part- ner prefers No Trump or the bid- der's best suit.
(c) When the bidder holds ten tricke in a Major Suit or eleven in a Minor and wants to find out whether the partner has an Ace and a King, because in that event the desires to make a slam bid.
We will now set out, in detail, [the precise requirements for cases (a) and (b)). The requirements for (e). a situation that rarely ocears, were set forth in stating the character of the bid,
The strength requirements för the Two-Club bid are that its maker have eight playing tricks with either suit, when he is giv ing his partner the choice of two suits, or eight tricks with the suit and a No-Trump count of at least 21, when he is asking his partner to select between a suit and a No-Trump.

When a Two-Club Bid made by South is passed by West,, North North must answer. Indeed, must keep the bidding open for South until a Game Bid is reached. North's first answer is quite sim-1 ple: Two No Trumps, if he has in his hand an Ace and a King or two Aces unless he has a live-card Major suit headed by one or both of these honours or at Tour-card that Major headed by both. In event, he bids two of the Major. When without an Ace and a King or two Aces he bida Diamonds. This is an artificial bid and tells nothing Diamonds.

Assuming the Two-Club bidder
is showing a hand consisting of long strong Spades and Hearts, giving choire, his second bld. partner having bid two Diamonds, would be two Spades. The partner would keep the bidding open by enlling two No Trumps and after that the Two-Club bidder would bid free Hearts, in this way giv ing his partner a choice between two suits.
When the cloire to be given is between No Trumpa and a suit, and the answer of the partner is two Diamonds. South calls two No Trumps and then North, by bid- ding three Spades, Hearts or Diamonds shows that he has such suit thoroughly stopped. Lack- ing such strength he would bid three Clubs and then Sonth would bid three of his suit, giving North the choice between that and the No Trump. If North shows stoppers for a suit and that plugs the weakness in the South hand. South on the third round bids three No Trumps.
