An official statement issued re- garding the Chinese military shows that the total of 14,636 was casualties during the Shanghai war shared by the Nineteenth and Fifth Armies.
The former lost 311 officers and
5,942 men wounded, and 127 officers
and 2,329 men, killed.
The Fifth Army had 276 officers and 3.211 men wouuded and 87 ofleers and 1,728 men killed.
