THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT HAVE NO IN-
TENTION OF RETURNING TO THE GOLD STANDARD, AT ANY RATE UNTIL GOLD PRICES HAVE CEASED TO BEHAVE AS THEY ARE DOING AT PRESENT, DECLARED MAJOR ELLIOTT, FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY, DURING THE DEBATE ON THE FINANCE BILL THIS EVENING.
