Lord Wakefield's wonder craft, Mias England III, is nearing.com- plation on a guarded island on the Thames near Hampton Court. Mr. Kayo Don, who is to pilot her in an attempt to regain for England the only important world spoed record we do not hold, show ed me the mystery. ship recently says àwriter in a Home paper.

There are many secrets which cannot be revealed, but it may be said that she will weigh 5% tons, will have two 2,500 horse-power Schneider Trophy engines, and la designed for a speed far in excess of the existing world's water-speed record of III miles an hour:

Tho whole secret of this enormous craft-sho is 36 feet long-le in the "stop," the thin knife edge on which the boat will balance Itself at the terrific speed of two miles a minute,

Twenty men, all sworn to se- crecy, are working day and night on Miss England. She is never left unguarded for a moment, and strangers are barred from the island.

At the back of the craft is a tiny cockpit, in which will be sent- ed the pilot and his one engineer, with the two unailenced engines. immediately behind them.

Miss England goes to Lake Gar- da, Italy, for her first-leats thin month and will race there for the d'Annunzio Cup.

A probable competitor will be Commodore Gar Wood, Knyo Don's old rival and holder of the pre- sent record,

Chewing Gum Patch.

"THE MOTHER OF INVENTION.”

An Ingenious A.A. Patrol,

The use of chewing gum as no effective medium for cylinder re- pair is not generally realised by motorists, but an Automobile Association patrol recently proved Its efficacy when assisting A stranded A.Ã. member near Black- burn (Lanca.).

A leak in the radiator had re- sulted in a cracked cylinder, but the A.A. patrol's resource and ingenuity were quite equal to the occasion. Ha filled the cracked cylinder head with chowing gum and thus effected a temporary re- pair which enabled the A.A. mem. ber to complete an urgent journey of over 15 miles without further trouble.
