In our previous articles we ex plained that the One over One can be made with a four-card suit s long as we have one and one-half quick-tricks. An additional fentura now recommended by the writer in hla system of contract bidding, to those employing the One over One Is as follows:

can bid one spade, which is the One over One, with the assurance that partner will keep the bidding open, but when you hold six or more of a auit and one and one-half quick tricks, we now recommend that you bid two spades instead of one, im- mediately informing partner that you have a long suit, that you do! hot think the hand will play at no Trump, and that you do not need normal trump support. It is a for- eing bid in the same respect that the One over One is in that it re- quires partner to keep the bidding open at least once-but in neither case a game promised.

We are gathered this evening to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of St. Stephon's College, and to do honour to a distinguished member of the Old Boys' Association, the Hon. Mr. T. N. Chau.
The task of felicitating
our
Alma Mater has been allotted to a worthy colleague, but it is my great privilege to give you the toast of "The Principal Guest."
