CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

LECTURE.

Mr. Alburt F. Gilmore, C.S.B.. of Boston, Massachusetts, a inem ber of The Christian Science Board of Lecturship, delivered "Christian lecture entitled Science: Humanity's Great Need" last evening, under the auspices

First of

Christ, Church Scientist, Hongkong in the tour Garden of the Jongkong Hotel.

The lecturer was introduced by Mr. William H. Adler.

Mr. Gilmore said, in purt: If you were asked to name mankind's greatest need you might reply. To be healed of sickness, to be relieved of the burden of disease which from the very beginnings of the race bus weighed humanity down; to be made wholê, in order to enjoy the pleasures, comforts. and activities of a normal life None can gainsay that ill health has been one-of the most grievous burdens mortals have had to bear, and from the earliest history, to find relief from this encumbrance has occupied the eartiest altention of untold thousanda,

Of such magnitude is the pro- blem that we may well ask. Is there no remedy for this appalling condition? Must mankind, per- force, stumble along ander this mighty ineabits of diamuse and ita penalty of suffering and poverty? I juging by the history of the past, we were to look wholly material means for anelioration of these conditions, we might well despair.
