The Chuirninn suid that those ni them who were present when the Board introduced the by-lawa ro gulating spitting in eating houses would remember that in serouding. Mr. Chau had suggested that they should make similar regulations. In respet of all premises can- trolled by the Board. This pro- posal to give effect to that suggea- tion, due to the customary modesty of Mr. Chau, was being moved by him (the Chairman).
Continuing, the Chairman Maid that there were certain differences in detall which differentiated the premises on the list frum eating houses. Eating houses were places i of public resort. He also recal- leclert Mr. Chau's argument that they were nothing Bore or loss than the poor man's dining table. Members would fit that one of the places on this list could be said to be places of table resort.
be Nevertheless, it could also found that spitting in one or other of them was injurious to health, and it appeared to him appropriate that thear different premises should come under the sume res gulations, and spitting therein re- stricted. Substantially, the argu- ments were precisely the same as the arguments for the by-lawa which had received the attention of this Bond and which with the Assent of the Legislative Council had become low,
The Tuberculosis Evil.
The Chairman referred to the serious incidence of tuberculosis in the Calony and stressed the de sirability of introducing such ru culations as one means of erudien- ting the discuse.
