George Thomas Pople, age 22, of Brecon, a private in the 2nd Battalion South Wales Borderers, stationed at Portsmouth, was at Burford, Oxfordshire on Jan. 22 committed for trial at Gloucester Assizes on a charge of murdering Mra. Mabell Elizabeth Matthews. aged 56, of Windursh Mill, near Burford, on the night of Decent ber 19.

Mra. Mathews was found dying from severe injuries on the mula Oxford Cheltenham road. An hour earlier she had left Burford on her bicycle to return home.
