THEATRES.
Juan Poems, the dainty Ittle leading lady in "Rain or Shine," Columbia's screen version of the stage hit now altowing at the Central Theatre, ha had what is called the "breaks."
She made her first public appear. anco with a famous star, Guy Bates Post. After one trial screen appear. ance in New York, he landed na Brandway, She had a trial screen appearanro in New York and was then sent to Hollywood. After mak ing one pleturo there, she secured a long-term contract,
Getting the "breaks" is one thing, however, but mannging to hold or afterwards is another-and Mixe Peera has demonstrated that she can do both.
The real secret back of this little lady's success is the fact that sko knows exactly what she wants and
has the determination to go and get it.
A talented dancer and rider, Joan Peces acquired pnny new, accomplish- ments while playing opposite the versatile Joe Cook in "Rain or Shine," Miss Peers enacts the role of a circus performer. She had plenty to learn and observe watching the star Joo Cook who is equally adept at juggling. tight rope-walking singing, dancing and nerobatics, One of the dimcult tunts acquired under Joe Cook's tutelage was a complete serial trapeze routine which she performs for the Camera.
"Rain or Shine," a circos picture, features many novelties never shown on the arren before. A tremendous- ly succesful stage play. It hon bern brought to the rereen with many wl- dition, which the unlimited mediku of the sereen makes possible.
A stellar est play supporting roles, Among the players are Louise Howard David Chisen, Alan Boscar and Adolph Minr. Frank Capra directed.
It has been brought to the screen. on a lavish scale. Many of the stage atars appear In it.
"The Squaw Man." Peminine jewellery #nds an import ant place in the dren adarnments of the girls in every corner of the world.
While differing in pattern und In placement; they sparkle for the de- ilght of the maid from the north and south as well as for those from the cast and went.
The girl from Alanka may profer to wear her gems in nose-ring pat- terna or attached by sume mysterious means to her chis, but bejewelled she must be.

Elaborate and rich are the trinkets belonging to the girls of Indin, heavy i earrings and lavish necklaces, em- phasizing dusky-skinnest colouring.
The Indina muidens, too, appreciate the ponsibilities of bends and brace lets, wearing as many as they can carry and adding bended mocasins and belts for good measure.
