In submitting the motion, thet that the Colony has been en- tirely free from plaque for the last President said:
The original suggestion that we eight years and that we have, after should make a bye-law prohibiting complete the absurdly simple and good deal of roping, found the spitting in eating-hduses came the only solution to the problem from the Hon. Mr. J. P. Braga of small-pox: namely vaccination. ahortly before he left the Board.
That being so the way is clour position-panely tuberculosis.

The disease at which we aim in those by-laws is the diacane Iuberculosis to which Mr. M. K. Lo drew the attention of the Board and the Government some seven- Leen months ago. I recall that, ou that occasion, I remarked on unerring precision with which Mr. Lu isolated the proper object of attack; for it has long been my conviction that taberculosis merited our attention above all other diseases.

Let me make again the quotation 1 made from the report of the Medical Olcer of Health for the year 1921.
20,000 Deaths in Ten Years. "The total deaths in the Colony from tuberculosis diseases during 1921 amounted to 1,891 where the total deaths from all the principal notifiable infectious diseases and including those from Malaria, in- Raenza, measles, and dycentery which are not notiflable, amounted to 1,280. This group of diseases includes typhoid and paratyphold fever, plague, small-pox, cholera and diphtheria,
