Shanghai, Sept. 7. Although the Hamburg- America motorship Burgen- Land got off the Pokusa Reef and attempted to make port. under her own steam, the veaach was so extensively damaged, that the captain was forced to beach her.

She now lies stranded on Chinto Inland in a much less ex- posed position than had she re- mained on the reef and there is now every prospect that she will be salvaged.
