7OU can be yourself and be in fashion this
summer very easily.
You
and
It simply means being comfortable and having enough summer silk things to give leisure
of mind. peace There are types of daytime things every wo- man needs this summer. You can add what you want to this primary wardrobe. You can Take one or two of them away, depending on what you already have banging there. But if you include the five types of things I have in mind, you'll be able to face hot weather with a cool mind.
First and foremost; of course, you must have a couple of good-looking silk suits. One should he plain, the first one you bay. With that on your back you can shop sanely for a figured one. But I think it is mistake to think you can get along with either a figured one of a
ulain ane.
Summer brings many woods. Some days you just must be gay. Nothing is more chee- ing, more adaptable to changing moods than s printed silk uit. It stands you in good stead. for
any luncheon or tea party you run into. It makes the day at the alfice, or shopping, or traveling seem shorter.
After you have picked these two suits, you must of course have a street dress that is weat able without a coat for those insufferable days when the sun burns at one glance.
This type of frock usually is transferable to any spectator sports event you might be asked to, if you take it for a week-end trip with you. It is equally as good for morning wear to little bridge parties or sugurite breakfasts for out-of- lown guests.
After this you must have one runabout sports dress. One you could play tennis in, if you had to. One you could wear with equanimity to a horse race. One you could wear to the office if you wanted to, under a jaunty jacket of color, or by itself,
AND with all of these practical things out of
the way, don't make the mistake of not having one afternoon dress that makes you welcome any date after five in the evening. Not a party dress for formal occasions, A frock that can take you to a garden party-if you know anybr dy who has one-ur to dinner on the roof or parch
New summer silks give you such a wide range of choice in this fundamental wardrobe that your own loste must decide what's what for you

blue-and-white printed crepe. from the Tai- fored Woman, New York, will add brightness to any summer parade.
But, one piece of advice might be to choose a couple of colors that you like, that are becoming, and then to stick fairly close to this general color scheme in everything that you buy,
Black and white with a single other color is an ex- cellent bet Navy blue be- comes others who can't wear black. The brown and white color scheme is more popular than it ever dreamed of being a short time ago.
I, FOR the hot weather dress, there are many frocks cut with tiny top sleeve effects that dispense with that rather naked feeling a sleeveless frock is apt to give you on the street. One of these a charming little natural col- ored crepioni cul two-piece, with eyelet .em- broidery in the same ivory tone for the rather dressy sleeve effect and jalot,
The waist portion is cut overblouse, with a wristenat ellect that is rather jaunty. It has two tiny pockets with a pseudo-hankie in one pocket made of a bit of the embroidery.
11. SHANTUNG has a place in the un
this year not only because the fast colors won't fade-but because it is so gorgeous when tailored right.
One of the prettiest silk suits you can have is a tailored three-piece one of dusty blue shan- tung, made with a skirt comfortably cut with flure enough to walk miles in, and a jacket with tlust cute round yoke that is always Frenchy Inoking. This one ties and has rounding scarf ends. The sleeves are rather flaring and full length. There is an exquisite little blouse of dainty net with touches of navy blue in it tiny bow and ribbon belt. (Best and Co.)
III. NOTHING is lovelier than white for auer. Whatever other touch of color you use as a foil, if your frock has a predominance of white, it is apt to be much daintier than most colored things.
One of the new garden party frocks is made of the new scarf chiffon in the loveliest design. white predominating, with the border trailing flowers in the most delectable greens. Just a touch of delicate brown in it gives the cue for the banding of the natural hemp hat.
IV. FOR your figured silk suit. a Chanel version of the three-piece suit is probably
as good a bet as you'll find. One of these, in a conventional floral design in blue and white. has a background of the blue with the tiniest of white dots in irregular sizes to enrich it.
There is a frock of the crepe, with a flat- tering neckline and short sleeves and a skirt rather full below the hipyoke, and a rather farmal little jacket with wide revers, very lovely. sleeves with long cuffs and fullness above and fitted and flared cut. It fastens with a single button at the waistline.

V. THE abrious sports frock is declasse this summer. You have so many of them, cut. just alike. If you can achieve the distinction of having one cut in an intricate manner, that looks simple but can't be copied by everybody, then you really are to be congratulated.
One such, and a stunning one-such, it a Bruyere sports dress of the spectator type made of chalk white ajolique most cleverly cut.
There seems to be a mere aash and rather intricately cut bodice in bands. As a matter of fact the band from the right shoulder to the left under the arm position is not attached to the frock after it leaves the shoulder but goes around the body, under the arms and then on around the other side to cross the front and tie. on the side. It is a charmingly graceful cut and makes you look alenderer than you are.
