CURRENCY MISSION REPORT.
In Hands of Home Government.
BEING CAREFULLY CONSIDERED.
London, June 11.
The report of the Mission appointed to enquire into Hongkong's currency pro- blems is now in the hands of the Colonial Office, and is receiving the consideration of the Home Government.
This was disclosed this even- ing by Lord Passfield, the Secre tary of State for the Colonies, presiding at a largely attended dinner of the Corona Club. He did not, however, indicate when the Report will be available for publication.
The Colonial Secretary's speech He express- envered a wide field. éd the hope that the single phrase "the Colonial Service": would be accepted throughout the Empire, and that the Service would become as nitructive as the Indian Civil Service had been. It i was to be feared that the Indian Civil Service hnd now passed its zenith.
Hongkong Complications.
As regards Hongkong, he com mented upon the complication of the world trade depression by the currency problem, and added that the Report of the Clegg-Ezechiels Clauson Mission on the subject of Hongkong's currency, was receiv ing the most careful consideration of the Colonial Office.

In regard to the recent retrench- ment efforts in Malaya, which has het henvily hit by the "economic blizzard," Lord Passfield regretted the necessity of reducing temporary high visst of living allowances in the Malayan Civil Service. but pointed out that the
