You can have the pagoda peplum type of dress, with braided or embroid- ered peplum, You can have the regal, intricately cut French medels, of the most conservative lines.
If you want to be slim and tall and willowy you may choose materials and styles that will make you that way.
If you prefer a garmin touch, that is all right, even as you approach the altar, providing you do it in a very sweet, demate manner, of course.
This year brides may express their own personalities ing stead of being while silhouettes taking the same number of steps to the game music. You need not carry flowers unless you prefer them. A white prayer book is just as omomental, In fact, if you are trying to blend into a condle-lighted, lily-scented scene the prayer book is almost preferable.
But there are certain outstanding new style points that all of the best wedding gowns for formal weddings approve. Length: To the tip of the toes in front and trailing in the back, or else the new ankle length in front, with a train behind as long as you care to have it.
the three gowns shown here are the creations of Mamie Conti, with accessories by Saks Fifth avenue and the flowers by David Hamberger
Sleeves: Long and fitted or cut some unusual way, or shion with long gloves. The arms will be covered.
Silhouette: Fitted, whether it is princess, belted and bloused or cut intricately to snuggle Batteringly to the figure.
Necklines: Lace yokes with matching lace cuffs are smart drop yokes with cap sleeves above long glove: 'cosyl necklines are new and very, very smart: round plain neck. lines are youthful, especially good if you have lovely necklace: fic, unusually, shaped yoker made by hand, using - lace and net. chiffon and satin, openwork or fagotting and
pieces of the dress.
Skirt fullness: All skirts begin their fullness somewhere at the bipline, though some of the new ours built for slender girls flaunt fullness almost at the waistline.
You can wear your mother's gown perfectly this year. for chances are it will have some style points of contem porary models. You can use up traditional bits of old Rose Point or Duchesse lace. Your veil can be caught with a tiny lace cap on the back of the head, or it can be fastened to a diadem of brilliants. Or it can be a charming tulle cap, from which the tulle trails out to the length of the train. For your bridesmaid's gowns, you can let your imagina- tion run away with you. There is a vogue for organdige.
for starched fine linens, for starched chillons, for cyclet em-. braideries, for openwork lacy fabrics.
For the maid of honor, there is more farmality. She may have a more elaborate gown, wear long gloves, even be in white like the bride, and she is likely to have a jackel this Jude! All of the attendants are likely to wear picture hats, velvet trimmed or flower laden. Some of these are of starched organdie like the frocks, or of lacy straws.
It
The bridesmaids usually wear identical costumes. there are four thie choice of color this year is blue, yellow, green and white, with fewer pink costumes, or costumer in a flame pink in preference to pole.
