Mr. Baldwin's leadership of the Conservative Party which is being holly assailed by a certain section of the London and which is being Press directly challenged in the by- George's, election at St. Westminister, was the sub- ject of cornment by three political personalities to-day, Mr. Alfred Duff Cooper, Sir Ernest Petter, and Mr. Bald. win himself.
Mr. Alfred Duff Cooper was adopted yesterday as the official Conservative candidate at St. George's, and in his first speech
since his nomination, he said:
"I am a whole-hearted supporter of Mr. Baldwin as the leader of our arty, but the issue is not so much as to who is to be lender, but whether the leader is to be dictated to by the Press."
