OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS.

Although no surprise results heralded in the Open Singles Tennis Championship of the Colony yesterday, several interest- ing encounters were witnessed at the Hongkong Cricket

Club, ubtable amongst them being the meeting of Ng Sze-kwong and T. Akiyama, Paul Kong and Y. W Lae and J. W. Leonard and. F. A. Redmond.

The frat-named in each case was the winner, the matches run- ning true to form.

Ng Sze-kwong did not have matters all his own way against virile opponent, and only a typical recovery in the second sot, allowed him to finish off the match at that stage. In this stanza, Akiyama took a 6-1 lead as a result of some fine tactics of aggression, and that he did not win the set was almost entirely due to two inexcusable errors at a time when he only needed two points. for the set. Akiyama was the more versatile of the two, but Ng's atendincas, coupled with his vast experience, pulled

him through to win the match with scores of 6-4, 7-5,

F. A. Redmond wna quickly eliminated by J. W. Leonard, the latter only lusing three games in the two seta necessary for decision, whilst Paul Kong had a light-hearted encounter, winning 6-1, 6-1. Other successes, which were in fall keeping with the play, went to Yew Man-kit and Ng Kan cheun

In the doubles championship, Segalen und Zimmern defeateil Feroz Ali and Firdos Khan, but weither pair invited confidence. and it was a rather poor match,

1. S. Green accomplished excellent performance in dis- posing of D. B. Evans, a stylish and hard-hitting player, in the Club Championship.

THE INTERPORTS.
