The police are investigating a moal unusual case of what is des eribed as treatment to children to prevent them from crying exces sively, the enquiries following the removal to hospital of a baby which had been suffering from burns to its facz.

Only a brief account of the be- currence was issued in the reports from Police leadquarters this morning. It would appear that the baby had been crying, and, to nt op it, a woman named wong Sal chúng administered certnin "treatment for excessive crying." The exact nature of the treatment is not known, but the child was found suffering from burns to its face and was immediately removed to the Government Civil Hospital. In the meantime, the woman who is alleged to have administered the extraordinary treatment to the child, has been dotafned by the police for enquiries.
