SOMERSETS''-BOXING TOURNAMENT.

Although no weights were announc ed at Murray Barracks last night, the boxers were evenly matched no far as weight was concerned. The Somersets had the honours by seven Aghts to Ave, the serapa being of three two--minate rounds with the ex- ception of the boys' events. All were keenly contested.

At the conclusion, Major 11. R. E. Bennett, M.G.. after a short speech in which he remarked how picased he was to have seen the many boxing contests in Hongkeng between his unit and other unita and formation, and how sorry he was to leave all the friends be inade in the Colony, called upon the Inspector-General of Police (Hun. Mr. E, D. C Walfe, C.M.G.) to present the prizes.

The Inspretor-General, replying, sall how sorry he was to have to any good-bye to the Someructa, al though the battalion had given his own people little or nothing to do during their stay in Hongkong. Ha was very pleased to be there, und was feeling very homestriel in being asked to present the prizes,

Attitude of Management,"

The news of this bald decizion, whtek is characteristic of the Pre- | sident. Mr. Kenkich! Explana- tion is made, however, that this drastic dividend action is introduced by the management on the assump- tion that the present business slump will be of the duration of a couple of years and to cope with any difficult situation which may crop up in the menntipen conservation of capital resources whhin the concern is essen- tal even if shareholders are deprived of their distribution at this tigre,
