There is an idea very prevalent Just now that the use of soap is injurious to the complexion, "and fearing a dried-up roughened skin, many women resort to the "grease pot" na a substitute for the good old-fashioned soap and water treatment of our childhood days.
But, while the excessive use of. strong soaps and hot water are. certainly harmful, a too frequent application of cold cream on 'the face is not to be recommended, because the tissues of the skin are apt to become choked, causing enlarged pares and. Bagging muscles. The best method cleansing the face is undoubtedly a judicious mixture of both cold cream and soap and water treat- ment.

In choosing cold creams, care should be taken to avoid all but those containing no animal fat. Olive oil mixed with lemon juice makes a splendid cleansing lotion. The oil penetrates the pores of the skin and the lemon juice acts as an astringent. At night and
