ALLEGATIONS OF EMBEZZLEMENT.

A dispute between the Hong- kong manager of the Young Nam Shipping Company and the other partners was brought before Mr. Williama, at the Central Police Court yesterday afternoon, when Ng Kwong-ting was charged with theft or embezzlement of a sum of $4,760.

Mr. E. S. C. Brookes, appeared for the complainant, Dr. Lam Yeung-hi, a partner, while Mr. Leo d'Almada, Jar. (instructed by Mr. J. M. Remedios) represented the defendant.

In order that hie Worship would understand the case better, Mr. Brookes produced two statements, one of which was of figures taken from the book kept by the defen- dant and the other from the books of boarding house proprietors. Mr: Brookes mentioned that it would be seen that females were charged $1.50 more than males because of certain formalities which had toed by be gone through in their case.

Figures Compared..

Comparing the figures it would be seen on trip No. 11 that the actual amount received by the de- fendant in the case of males was $13, whereas he had entered only $11, thereby making $2 profit. In the case of females, the figures in the board house books were $14.50 while the defendant only entered $12.50 making another $2.
