POLICY OF COMPANY.
The following statement has! been issued to the shareholders of the Cunard Steamship Company by the Chairman, Sir Percy E. Entes, Bart.:
As the next ordinary annual meeting of the Company is no less than six months away, and asso' much interest and discussion has been raised by the Company's proposals for the building and insurance of a new steamer, I think it well to anticipate the speech that I should ordinarily be making to the shareholders next April and explain now what are the economic factors behind our proposals.

With what is called "The Blue' Kiband of the Atlantic," the Cunard Company to-day is but in- directly concerned. If it can be obtained it will be a valuable ad- vertising point, but its, attainment is merely incidental to a far bigger) fact.
For the first time in the history of naval architecture it is a prac- tical proposition to run a weekly service from Southampton via Cherbourg to New York, with two! steamers which can pay. Hitherto! such a service has required three steamers:
